parfum1 Team ·

The Jean Paul Gaultier range centres on six main lines: Le Male, Le Beau, Scandal, La Belle, Classique and Gaultier Divine, with Scandal Pour Homme as Scandal's men's branch, plus Gaultier², La Favorite and others. The tables map the versions on the house's French store on 2 November 2026 by concentration, launch year, key notes and price per 100 ml. Le Parfum means Eau de Parfum Intense, Elixir means Parfum, and Absolu means Parfum Concentré in Scandal or Parfum Intense in Le Male.

How the house names its strengths

Le Parfum means an Eau de Parfum Intense, as in Le Male Le Parfum, Scandal Le Parfum and Gaultier Divine Le Parfum. Elixir means a Parfum: Le Male Elixir, Scandal Elixir and Gaultier Divine Elixir. Absolu marks a Parfum Concentré in the Scandal lines and a Parfum Intense in Le Male, where the house describes Elixir Absolu as borrowing the signature of Le Male Elixir and making it richer, with plum.

Le Male itself climbs five labels in order: Eau de Toilette, Eau de Toilette Intense (Ultra Male), Eau de Parfum Intense (Le Parfum), Parfum (Elixir) and Parfum Intense (Elixir Absolu). These are concentration labels, not claims about hours of wear. For other range maps, see BOSS Bottled versions compared and Mugler perfume lines.

Le Male, from 1995 to Elixir Absolu

Begin with the original Le Male Eau de Toilette, the bottle the house's own grid flags as a best seller. Mint comes first, 'a heady blast of freshness', then a lavender the house says smells clean and a beguiling vanilla. Francis Kurkdjian composed it in 1995; the flacon is a torso in a striped sailor shirt. Le Male Le Parfum is 'a vibrant, contrasting reinterpretation' in the house's words, and its English site terms it 'the modern and more powerful version of Le Male'.

Le Beau: bergamot, coconut wood and tonka

For Le Beau, start at the Eau de Toilette, marked a best seller by the house. Bergamot brings a bright splash before tonka bean meets coconut wood, in a torso bottle with a golden vine leaf. Le Beau and La Belle arrived together in 2019, created by Quentin Bisch and Sonia Constant; Puig described the pair as 'born from JPG Classic and Le Mâle'.

Scandal: gardenia, honey and patchouli

Scandal Eau de Parfum began the line in 2017, the first major fragrance Puig made with Gaultier after taking the business in-house. This is the starting point: a sensual gardenia meets powerful patchouli and suave honey, in the house's account of its chypre gourmand. Daphné Bugey worked with Fabrice Pellegrin and Christophe Raynaud on the perfume; golden legs sit on the cap.

The men's branch begins with Scandal Pour Homme Eau de Toilette, from 2021, by Quentin Bisch, Christophe Raynaud and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto. The house describes sensual vetiver, a touch of fresh sage and tonka bean at the edge of excess. Its bottle wears a crown and takes a refill.

La Belle: pear, vanilla and the house's new Classics

La Belle Eau de Parfum provides the starting point here, marked a best seller by the house. A juicy pear is wrapped in warm vanilla with a fresh touch of bergamot: Gaultier's wording for its 'addictive and luminous' perfume. The house calls the range its new Classics, and the bottle is a bust wearing a necklace of golden flowers.

Classique: the first Gaultier perfume

Classique Eau de Toilette is where to begin: the house's first perfume, composed by Jacques Cavallier and launched in 1993. Gaultier describes orange blossom spiked with ginger and wrapped in vanilla, with wafts of retro rice powder. The bottle is a corset-shaped bust.

Gaultier Divine: lily, meringue and a salt note

Gaultier Divine Eau de Parfum, the original to start with, arrived in 2023. Quentin Bisch's floral gourmand marine combines a majestic lily, an airy meringue and a fresh salty kiss, in the house's phrasing. A gold corset dresses the bottle; Le Parfum keeps a salty note with a floral bouquet and benzoin, while Elixir pairs salt with tuberose and tonka.

Gaultier², La Favorite and the rest

Gaultier² returns as an exclusive re-edition of the 2005 Eau de Parfum: musk, vanilla and amber, at €100 for 100 ml. La Favorite is marked new, an Eau de Parfum with a refill. Ma Dame is listed as an exclusive Eau de Toilette. Six further eaux de parfum belong to Les Ateliers Gaultier: Ambre Tatouage, Santal Paname, Cuir 1976, Rose Palace, French Oud and Musc Terrible; a discovery set is sold under that collection name.

Bottles and refills

The bottle shapes distinguish the ranges before the labels do: a sailor torso for Le Male, a torso with a golden vine leaf for Le Beau, a corset bust for Classique and a golden-flower necklace for La Belle. Scandal wears legs on its cap, Gaultier Divine a gold corset. Le Male was originally presented in an industrial-style can.

  • Scandal Pour Homme takes a 200 ml refill at €150; Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum takes one at €165.
  • Refills are listed for the four Gaultier Divine versions and for La Favorite.
