Black Opium Extreme and Le Parfum, and the versions around them
Black Opium Extreme pushes coffee and patchouli; Le Parfum answers with four vanillas. Extreme launched in 2021 and Le Parfum in 2022; both credit four perfumers, but only Le Parfum is sold on YSL’s French store today. The table gives every version’s notes and launch year, and YSL France’s price per 100 ml for the four it sells, Over Red included; Extreme, Illicit Green and Neon are not on that store, so they carry no euro price.

Extreme vs Le Parfum, coffee against vanilla
The dates first. Extreme arrived in 2021 as an Eau de Parfum Extreme; Le Parfum followed in December 2022. Nathalie Lorson, Olivier Cresp, Honorine Blanc and Marie Salamagne are credited with both — the same team behind the 2014 original — so the difference sits in the formula rather than in the noses.
Extreme leans dark and bitter. Its centre is what YSL calls an Extra Black Coffee Accord, boosted by black cocoa absolute, with deep patchouli underneath, vanilla bourbon infusions with warm, balsamic tones, and jasmine and orange blossom set against pear, mandarin and lemon at the top. Le Parfum keeps the coffee but builds its base around what YSL describes as “a yummy gourmand quatuor of vanillas”: vanilla planifolia absolute, vanilla pod absolute, Bourbon vanilla infusion and vanilla tahitensis absolute, over Indonesian patchouli, with green mandarin, pear and cinnamon opening the way and jasmine sambac and orange blossom in the heart.
Availability settles it in practice. Le Parfum is on YSL Beauty France today in 30, 50 and 90 ml, and the international store adds a 10 ml. Extreme appears on neither store, and YSL’s current Black Opium selection reads Eau de Parfum, Pink Glaze, Over Red and Le Parfum.
Eau de Parfum, the 2014 original
Everything starts with Black Opium Eau de Parfum, which YSL launched in 2014 as “the first feminine fragrance to dare a black coffee accord”. The house shorthand is Café Floral – Vanille, and the accord tiles on the French page name an electrifying black coffee, a white-flower accord and entrancing vanillas: coffee, jasmine and vanilla in plain terms.
It comes in 30, 50 and 90 ml, plus a 100 ml refill that YSL lists as compatible with the 10, 30, 50 and 90 ml bottles. At €130.00 per 100 ml, that refill has the lowest unit price among the Black Opium products priced here.

Black coffee, jasmine and vanilla define the original. YSL describes its character as coffee-floral-vanilla. Its 100 ml refill is compatible with YSL’s 10, 30, 50 and 90 ml bottles of the Eau de Parfum.

Le Parfum, the four-vanilla version
Le Parfum is YSL’s own name for the 2022 scent, and the product name carries no further concentration word. YSL’s tiles divide it into a vibrant black coffee, a sensual jasmine — an absolute of jasmine at the heart — and sultry vanillas, a quartet featuring a vanilla absolute from Madagascar.
At launch the pyramid ran green mandarin superessence, pear and cinnamon at the top; solar jasmine sambac and orange blossom in the middle; espresso coffee, Indonesian patchouli and the four vanillas at the base. The bottle is black lacquer with mirror reflections around the Cassandre logo at its centre, and YSL notes the design may vary during the transition to a new model.

Four vanillas, one of them a Madagascar absolute, wrapped around the coffee-floral frame YSL established in 2014. The launch pyramid places pear and cinnamon at the top and espresso coffee with Indonesian patchouli at the base. Choose it for the quartet of vanillas that YSL puts at the centre of its description.

Extreme, the 2021 coffee edition
Extreme launched in 2021 in 30, 50 and 90 ml. Its label is Eau de Parfum Extreme, and its four perfumers also created the original.
Inside, the Extra Black Coffee Accord is joined by black cocoa absolute, deep patchouli and vanilla bourbon infusions, with jasmine and orange blossom over pear, mandarin and lemon. The launch description attributes full-bodied bitterness to black cocoa absolute. There is no sourced euro price for Extreme in the table; it is absent from both the French and international stores checked on 2 November 2026.

Extreme
Eau de Parfum Extreme · 2021
Coffee taken further than the original, with black cocoa and deep patchouli behind it. Jasmine and orange blossom bring white flowers to the composition, with pear, mandarin and lemon among its fruit notes. It is not sold on YSL’s French or international store as checked on 2 November 2026.
Over Red and Pink Glaze, the fruity pair
Over Red joined in January 2024, on the line’s tenth anniversary, with a red cherry accord laid over the coffee-floral frame: cherry and green mandarin at the top, Ourika jasmine, orange blossom absolute and black tea in the heart, coffee, Indonesian patchouli and Madagascar vanilla at the base. YSL’s shorthand is Café Floral – Cerise Rouge, and the house calls it a liqueur-like, fruity reinterpretation of the signature.
Pink Glaze is the newest of them all, launched globally on 12 August 2026, and it goes the other way with strawberry: a strawberry extracted entirely naturally, folded into jasmine over a base of amber woods, which the house calls a floral strawberry coffee. A dark pink lacquered bottle with a black core and the Cassandre at its heart marks it out on a shelf.

Neon and Illicit Green, the colour editions
Two earlier editions have left both stores. Neon was announced at the end of 2019 with dragon fruit, mandarin, citron, sambac jasmine and orange blossom, closing on coffee, musk and vanilla absolute. Illicit Green came in 2022 with fig and green mandarin among its notes, also labelled Eau de Parfum. Neither has a place in the current French line-up, so neither has a French price here.

Which Black Opium to choose
- Coffee and patchouli, taken darker: Extreme, the 2021 Eau de Parfum Extreme, no longer sold on YSL’s French or international store.
- Vanilla above everything: Le Parfum, the 2022 version, and the dearest of the current four per 100 ml.
- The plain original: the 2014 Eau de Parfum, black coffee, jasmine and vanilla, and the only version with a refill.
- Fruit with a liqueur edge: Over Red, cherry and black tea over the same coffee base.
- Strawberry with coffee: Pink Glaze, with jasmine and amber woods, and the lowest unit price of the four at 90 ml.
Price per 100 ml across the line
The figures in the table come from the 90 ml bottles. Smaller bottles cost more for the same millilitre: the Eau de Parfum is €273.33 per 100 ml at 30 ml and €234.00 at 50 ml, Le Parfum €323.33 and €280.00, Over Red €283.33 and €244.00, and Pink Glaze €256.67 and €214.00.
Only the Eau de Parfum has a refill on the French store, and at €130 for 100 ml it works out at €130.00 per 100 ml, the lowest figure in this guide. The store does not list refills for Le Parfum, Over Red or Pink Glaze.
Ranked at 90 ml, Le Parfum is the dearest per 100 ml, then Over Red, the Eau de Parfum and Pink Glaze. These are YSL Beauty France’s prices checked on 2 November 2026.
