Editorial policy
This page sets out how the texts on parfum1 are written and checked: product descriptions, house and note pages, guides and data pages. It describes what we do, so you can judge what you read.
Where the facts come from
The notes, accords, concentration and, where known, the launch year and perfumer of a perfume come from the catalogue data held for that perfume. Texts are written from those facts.
When the data does not hold a fact, the text does not state it. We do not describe how long a perfume lasts or how far it projects unless that is in the data.
House pages and note pages follow the same rule. A house page lists the perfumes we hold for that house, and a note page lists the perfumes that carry that note, both drawn straight from the catalogue.
Who writes the texts
Every text on parfum1 is written in-house by the parfum1 Team, in one plain voice: calm, specific and without hype. Pages are signed parfum1 Team, never a single name.
A perfume is described by its own notes and the feeling it leaves. We do not describe one perfume as a stand-in for another.
We leave out claims we cannot back from the data: no awards, no rankings, no famous wearers and no invented history.
Checking before publishing
Each guide is checked against the catalogue data before it goes live. Every perfume it names must be in our catalogue, and the notes, concentrations and years it states must match the data.
Titles and descriptions follow the same rule: they name only what the page contains. Before a guide goes live, its title, its description and its opening paragraph are read together, so that all three promise what the page then delivers.
Independence
Perfumes in a guide are chosen from our catalogue for their notes, scent family and concentration. Nothing in a guide is placed there for payment.
Dates and updates
Guides and policy pages show the date they were last updated. When a guide changes in substance, its date changes with it.
Translations
Each language version is written for its readers and goes through a separate review against the English before the page is published. A page stays out of the search results of a language until that review is complete.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, write to support@parfum1.com with the page and what is wrong. We check it against the data, correct the page and update its date. We answer every message within one working day.
