Cedar 47 Cedar is a dry, aromatic wood. Its scent is clean and crisp like pencil shavings, with a light smokiness and a pale, slightly sweet resinous edge. Perfumers draw on the oils of several trees sold as cedar, and many perfumes list the related note cedarwood. Cedar gives structure rather than sweetness. It sits well beneath citrus, lavender and spice, and it adds a dry backbone to florals. In modern fresh and woody fragrances it often forms the clean architecture around brighter notes, holding them in a tidy frame.
