Orange Blossom

165

Orange blossom is the white flower of the bitter orange tree. Steam distillation gives neroli oil, while solvent extraction gives orange blossom absolute, which is sweeter and more honeyed. The scent is white-floral, fresh and slightly citrusy, with a creamy warmth and a faint green bitterness. It suits both soft, clean perfumes and rich ones. Perfumers use it alongside jasmine, musk and vanilla, and it often forms a bridge between a citrus opening and a floral heart. The result is a flower that smells clean and warm at once.

Orange blossom is mainly a heart note in this range, linking a citrus opening to the softer floral and musky layers below.
