Petitgrain

27

Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves and young twigs of the bitter orange tree. It smells green, woody and bitter, with a citrus brightness and a faint floral, orange-blossom softness. It is drier and less sweet than orange peel, and more herbal than neroli, which is made from the same tree's flowers. Perfumers use it as a cologne staple and to give fresh woody and floral fragrances a clean, leafy sparkle. It also works as a bridge between citrus openings and heart notes.

In this range it sits mostly in the top, a green, bitter citrus sparkle that links bright openings to the florals and woods beneath.
