Black Currant
1Black currant is a dark berry, and perfumers also use the buds of the plant to make an absolute known as cassis. The note smells fruity, tart and juicy, with a green, slightly musky edge that gives it character. It is deeper than raspberry and less sweet than cherry. Black currant lifts the top of a fragrance with a rich, jammy sparkle, and it pairs well with bergamot, rose, patchouli and woods. Bud absolute adds a distinctive bite that makes the fruit feel more real.
Black currant sits mostly in the top notes in this range, adding a tart, juicy, jammy sparkle to the opening.
