Black Pepper
24Black pepper is the dried berry of a climbing vine. Distilled, it gives an oil with a hot, dry, woody and slightly fresh smell, sharper and warmer than pink pepper. It adds bite and a sense of energy. Perfumers use black pepper to give an opening a crisp, spicy edge, and it works with citrus, lavender, vetiver, woods and leather. A small touch can make a fragrance feel more modern and masculine, but it also adds contrast to florals and amber.
