Frankincense
2Frankincense is the aromatic gum resin of Boswellia trees, tapped from the bark and dried into hard golden tears. Burned or distilled, it smells balsamic and smoky, with a fresh lemony top, a pine-like brightness and a dry, peppery woodiness. It is the heart of incense accords. Perfumers use it to bring a clear, luminous smokiness to woods, amber and rose. It makes sweet blends feel dry and open, and gives dark ones a lighter, airier resin character. It is a dry, clear smoke rather than a heavy one.
In this range it is spread evenly across top, heart and base, adding a clean, smoky resin that brightens amber and wood.
