Madagascar Vanilla
37Madagascar vanilla comes from the cured pods of a climbing orchid grown on the island of Madagascar, one of the world's main sources of vanilla. The smell is creamy, sweet and rounded, with soft wood, a trace of smoke and a warm, almost boozy richness. It is less sharp and less sugary than a simple vanilla accord. Perfumers use it to bring depth to gourmand blends, to soften woods and spice, and to give florals a smooth, milky backdrop. It is the quiet comfort at the centre of many amber fragrances.
In this range it sits mainly in the base, where it wraps woods, amber and spice in a creamy, rounded sweetness.
