Mint
1Mint in perfume is cool, green and sweet, a fresh herbal note taken from the leaves of the mint plant by distillation. Peppermint is sharper and more icy, spearmint softer and gum-like. Perfumers use mint to cool a composition, to add a crisp green lift to citrus, and to refresh woods and aromatic accords. It also turns sweet blends, from vanilla to tonka, into something lighter and more playful. In drinks-led fragrances it supplies the garden-herb side of a cocktail. Because it is bright and sharp, it is felt mainly in the opening.
In this range it sits mostly in the top, a cool, green flash that lifts citrus and herbs before the heart arrives.
