Pepper
2Pepper in perfume usually means black pepper, the dried berries of a climbing vine, distilled or extracted into an oil. It smells dry, hot and sparkling, with a cracked, woody spiciness and a citrus-like lift. Pink pepper is different: lighter, rosy and slightly fruity. Black pepper adds energy and a sharp edge to a composition, and it is a classic partner of citrus, lavender, vetiver and leather. Used lightly it gives freshness; used generously it adds dark, spicy heat. It is one of the quickest ways to give a fragrance a clean, modern spark.
In this range it sits mostly in the top and heart, giving an energetic spicy bite that sharpens citrus, woods and florals.
