Tangerine
1Tangerine is a small, sweet citrus fruit related to mandarin, and its peel oil is pressed from the rind. The smell is juicy and sunny, rounder and sweeter than orange or lemon, with a soft floral edge and a gentle bitterness. It reads as friendly and bright. Like other citrus materials it is light and evaporates fast, so it belongs at the start of a fragrance. Perfumers use it to open a composition warmly, and it blends easily with neroli, spice, vanilla and musk, adding a sunlit sweetness without sharpness.
Tangerine is almost always a top note in this range, a sweet, juicy burst of peel that gives way to florals, musk and woods.
