Woody Notes
3Woody notes is a broad catalogue label rather than a single ingredient. Perfumers use it for the dry, warm, dark or creamy tones of wood in general, often built from a blend of cedar, sandalwood, vetiver and woody aroma molecules. The label can describe anything from a clean, pencil-like dryness to a smooth, resinous warmth. It tells you that wood is present, but not which kind. In a perfume, woody notes give structure and depth, and they sit comfortably beneath citrus, flowers, spices and musk.
Woody notes sit in the base for most of these perfumes, giving a dry or creamy wood foundation that supports the notes above.
