Mandarin Orange 34 Mandarin oil is pressed from the peel of a small, sweet citrus fruit. The scent is juicy, soft and sunny, sweeter and rounder than lemon or bergamot, with a slight floral thread. It smells like the fruit just after it has been peeled. Perfumers use mandarin to open fresh, fruity and floral fragrances, and it blends well with neroli, musk, cedar and spices. It is a friendly, easy note that brightens a composition without making it sharp. Like other citrus oils, it evaporates fast and belongs at the start.
Mandarin orange sits mostly in the top notes here, giving the opening a juicy, soft sweetness before the heart arrives.
