Osmanthus
4Osmanthus is a small, tea-scented flower from Asia, and the absolute made from it is one of the most distinctive floral ingredients in perfumery. The smell is apricot-like and leathery at once: soft stone fruit, suede, a trace of tea and a delicate floral sweetness. Perfumers use it to add a juicy, velvety fruitiness to florals and to soften leather and woods. It sits between flower and fruit, neither heavy nor sugary. In small quantities it adds a warm, golden glow; in larger ones it gives a rich suede accent.
In this range it sits mostly in the heart, with a share in the top, bringing apricot-like sweetness and a soft suede texture.
