Oud

9

Oud is the dark, resin-rich heartwood of Aquilaria trees, formed when the wood reacts to injury and infection. It is distilled into a thick oil that smells woody, smoky and leathery, with a sweet balsamic depth and sometimes a faintly animalic edge. Natural oud oil is rare and varies from batch to batch, so many fragrances use blended or reconstructed oud accords. Perfumers pair it with rose, saffron, amber and vanilla. It adds darkness, weight and a smoky, resinous warmth that few other ingredients can match.

In this range it sits in the heart and the base, giving dark, smoky wood and resin depth beneath rose, spice and sweeter notes.
