Vanilla Absolute

Vanilla absolute is extracted with solvents from cured vanilla pods, the fruit of an orchid. It is richer and more complex than the simple vanilla people know from baking. The smell is creamy and sweet, with dark, slightly boozy and smoky facets, a woody resinous depth and a trace of dried fruit. Perfumers use it in the base, where its warmth anchors lighter notes. It pairs with sandalwood, amber, tonka, rose and spice, and it gives a fragrance a deep, rounded sweetness that feels more natural than sugary.
