Tuberose

31

Tuberose is a white flower with a thick, waxy petal and a very strong scent. In perfume it smells creamy, heady and sweet, with green, slightly rubbery and camphor-like sides that give it a dramatic character. Few flowers have such presence. Perfumers use tuberose as the centre of rich white floral bouquets, and it blends with jasmine, orange blossom, ylang-ylang and vanilla. It can read as velvety and sensual or as sharp and green, depending on what surrounds it. The scent is strong and carries a distinct waxy richness.

Tuberose is a heart note in most of these perfumes, giving the middle of the fragrance a creamy, heady, opulent floral body.
